DVS to unveil ProntoXway HDTV broadcast disk recorder

At IBC2007 this week, Digital Video Systems (DVS) will unveil the ProntoXway HD disk recorder for broadcasters.

The JPEG2000-based ProntoXway functions as a multichannel server that handles the recording and playback of HDTV material simultaneously. It also meets the need of TV stations to simulcast HD and SD programming.

With the introduction of tapeless broadcasting, the archiving methods employed by broadcasters are also changing. The JPEG2000 format facilitates the archiving of high-volume HDTV content because the format allows high-resolution images to be effectively compressed and stored.
