Commission rescinds interim electronic filing procedures

The FCC electronic filing of particular documents as well as acceptance of those filings at its Capitol Heights, MD, location will end Sept. 25, the commission said last week.

The commission set up the procedure in November 2001 following the anthrax contamination of Capitol Hill and some area postal facilities, which interrupted regular mail delivery. The interim electronic filing procedure allowed filing by fax and e-mail, as well as delivery of documents via overnight delivery service other an the U.S. Postal Service and by hand to the Maryland office.

Improvements to the mail system as well as other FCC electronic filing systems have negated the need to continue with the interim policy, the commission said.
