CEA Promotes Petricone

Michael Petricone has been bumped up to senior vice president of government affairs for the Consumer Electronics Association.

The au courant Petricone has been with the lobby for 10 years; primarily as vice president of technology policy. He is known for his vigorous tactics and keen wit. A memorable image of Petricone debating the president of the Songwriters Guild in front of the Supreme Court from The Washington Post exemplifies the energy he brings to disputation.

"This promotion recognizes Michael's leadership in helping CEA develop a world-class government affairs operation," said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. "Michael does great work and hires great people. Our industry faces tough issues and Michael and his team are known for competence, honesty and effectiveness. Michael has passion, intelligence, creativity and a sense of humor. He deserves this promotion."

Before joining CEA in '96, Petricone was involved in several political campaigns. He received a bachelor's degree from Tufts University and a JD from Georgetown University. In 2003, he was featured by Dealerscope Magazine as one of the technology industry's "Top 40 Under 40."
