CBS News switches White House camera sources from D.C. bureau
The CBS News Washington, D.C., bureau has begun using an optical switch to connect camera sources within the White House via leased fiber lines allowing the network to select camera positions remotely and route them back to the bureau.
CBS is using the Polatis Trinity optical switch to accomplish a task that previously required a team of engineers to link cameras manually with patch cords based on the day's shooting schedule.
The Trinity series is designed for the video transport and broadcast market. It supports nearly all protocols and feed rates, including AES, SMPTE-276M, 259M and 292M, ASI/DVB, NTSC, PAL and QAM.
