Bresnan selects Terayon for digital simulcasts

Bresnan Communications, a broadband communications company serving four Western states, has purchased technology from Terayon Communications for the rollout of its digital simulcast programming.

Terayon is a provider of digital video networking applications that enable service providers to localize on-demand content. Bresnan is using Terayon video applications for digital program insertion, zoned advertising insertion and other solutions that leverage rate shaping and statistical remultiplexing capabilities to deliver more personalized content.

All of the applications run on the Terayon DM 6400 Network CherryPicker, a video processing system designed to optimize bandwidth while maintaining quality in SD and HD video.

The DM 6400 is a compact single rack unit chassis with five slots available for custom input/output options. This feature allows operators to add application-specific modules as their requirements change.

Based on Terayon-designed ASICs, the DM 6400 was designed for the computational requirements of MPEG-2 digital video. ASIC technology enables the DM 6400 to handle many simultaneous digital video stream processes.
