Belgian broadcaster relies on Grass Valley for HD transition

For its move to a new headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, RTL-TVI has purchased new Grass Valley LDK 8000 HD cameras, Kayak production switchers and Trinix and Concerto routers from Thomson.

The order also included a media distribution system using Grass Valley IPTV technology, delivering more than 100 channels over the center's standard IT infrastructure.

RTL-TVI is the main commercial TV network for the French-speaking market in Belgium. It had outgrown its existing space and decided to move to a new building in Brussels, taking the opportunity of a new center to start its migration to HD production and broadcasting.

Each of the three studios in the center is equipped with a new Grass Valley Kayak HD production switcher. One of the studios is equipped with six Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras. The order also included Radamec Vinten robotic pedestals for each of the new cameras to allow automated operation. The other two studios will use RTL-TVI's existing Grass Valley LDK 200 cameras until an HD upgrade is required.
