Axon Digital Design opens U.S. office

Axon has opened an office in Silicon Valley, CA. Frank Alioto, Managing Director, Ken Regnier, Product Manager, and Steve Michelson, Director of Strategic Planning will head the new company.

Axon, a Netherlands-based company, manufactures advanced digital conversion products.

Products include Axon's Synapse, which is available in either an 18 card 4RU frame (SFR-18) or the Synapse Junior 4 card frame (SFR04) in a 1RU chassis. Multiple Synapse units can be ganged together to provide the conversion and infrastructure core of any studio large or small. Synapse modular cards include: analog to digital and digital to analog conversion, signal processing, audio embedding and de-embedding, conversion to fiber optics, Dolby E decoding and distribution of SDI signal paths.

More than 200 Synapse systems have been installed worldwide with recent installations at Fox Television in Hollywood, and CBS News in London. Synapse systems include dual power supplies and dual sync systems, allowing CBS News in London to be among the first to run both NTSC and PAL signals through the same chassis.

Additional Axon products include the Aspect Ratio Converter 3000 (ARC), an all-digital system that will convert aspect ratios from any format to any other format.
