Two hundred TV stations, newspapers pursuing AccuWeather mobile deals

AccuWeather announced in mid-April that nearly 200 major TV and newspaper companies are at various stages of the contract and adoption process of the AccuWeather turnkey mobile Web platform.

Mobile handsets are now more widely distributed than Internet access in U.S. households, according to recent Pew Research surveys. Those studies found that more than 75 percent of U.S. households have one or more mobile handsets — more than 225 million in all. Most of these handsets are Web-capable.

Content offered by regional news organizations like local TV stations and newspapers are good fits for the mobile Web, which excels at localization. AccuWeather's Third-Screen Network allows media outlets to get their valuable content and brands on mobile devices quickly and easily, while avoiding complicated technical issues.

Using the AccuWeather network, media partners can start driving revenue immediately, keeping all mobile advertising revenue on every page containing their local content.
