Triveni Digital is offering tech support for broadcasters implementing the FCC-mandated PSIP system.
The FCC Report and Order (R&O) requires all broadcasters to put PSIP--data embedded in broadcast streams for v-chip controls, closed captioning and channel numbering--into operation by Feb. 1, 2005.
More than 700 stations are using one of the Triveni Digital PSIP systems, either the GuideBuilder or the Harris PSIPplus brand.
According to the FCC R&O, all mandatory tables and descriptors--MGT, TVCT, EITs 0-3 and STT--must be present in the transport. Triveni Digital is providing bundled products with GuideBuilder metadata management and StreamScope monitoring systems. GuideBuilder systems--available in various configurations--collect, translate, manage and generate metadata compliant with FFC requirements.
