Swiss broadcaster TSR selects EVS for tapeless production

Swiss broadcaster Television Suisse Romande (TSR) has selected EVS to supply equipment for the new integrated tapeless production system at both its studios in Geneva as well as outside broadcast vans. The system will allow transfer, storage and instant availability of all media throughout a gigabit network.

TSR chose the latest generation of EVS XT series servers, the XT[2], managed by IP Director, EVS’s video production management software. Both the ingest of content, and the sharing of all audio or video material, will be managed across an XNet[2] media sharing network. Five XT[2] servers will be located in the technical nodal area and further servers will be in the OB vans. All channels on all the servers can be controlled by IP Director via the network. All ingest will be at IMX50 format, which has native support on the XT[2] so post production will have direct access to the media without transcoding.

SeaChange provided centralized storage and will offer a fully secure media agnostic system based on 14 nodes of Broadcast MediaLibrary, BML and Turbo. Interoperability between the EVS servers and the MediaLibrary is controlled by media asset management using XML on the gigabit network through six EVS gateways with XFile[2] for archiving and moving media stored on the XT series servers.

The system includes two XT[2] servers that are fully SD and HD compatible allowing for a smooth way to facilitate any HD productions in the future.
