SSL expands plug-in line with new Duende packages

Solid State Logic used the recent NAMM show to launch two new plug-in packages for DAW users, the Duende Expanded and Duende Studio Pack options. Since its 2006 launch, the audio quality, features and usability of the Duende plug-in collection has made it the DAW processing solution of choice for many producers. These new options, which include the classic channel strip, are designed to bring the SSL sound to an even more affordable level.

The Duende Mini Expanded package includes a bus compressor plus a channel upgrade from 16 to 32. The Duende Mini Studio Pack adds the drum strip and vocal strip plus X-EQ and X-Comp modules to that package.

The Duende channel strip features the classic SSL console features and sound, with four-band EQ, two shelving sections and two parametric. EQ characteristics can be switched between E Series and G Series parameters. Other features include an “over-easy” soft ratio compression characteristic for smooth transitions; variable process order routing; and dynamics side-chain processing with independent side chains for compressor and expander/gate.

The Duende stereo bus compressor comprises the center section compressor from SSL’s G Series analog console, designed to make complete mixes sound bigger. The drum strip plug-in helps to convert an ordinary drum kit recording into a vibrant, exhilarating drum sound in a few quick, easy steps.

The X-EQ is an open, transparent-sounding parametric and comprehensive range of EQ tools within an intuitive user interface designed for mastering duty. The X-Comp is a mastering-grade stereo compressor that can be driven to inject character and power.

The vocal strip blends the right four processing elements to create the simple route to professional vocal recordings. Combining EQ and dynamics sections with essential vocal processors, vocal strip brings power, character and clarity to vocal tracks from a single interface.

The Duende Mini Expanded and Duende Studio Packs will be available from SSL resellers in February.
