Snell & Wilcox Extend Kahuna Features to Smaller Switchers

Snell & Wilcox has added new switcher products to the Kahuna line to satisfy the needs of users wanting smaller switchers with the Kahuna feature set.

The new additions are built around a 6 RU mainframe that supports up to two full M/E banks and four tiles of IMPAKT 3D DVE. The 1 and 2 M/E switchers provide the full power and functionality of the top-of-the-line Kahuna models, including a large number of inputs and outputs, easy integration with external devices and the ability to seamlessly intermix SD and HD sources.

"Until now, the purchasers of compact switchers have been forced to give up something in the way of power and functionality in return for a smaller form factor," said Joe Zaller, Snell & Wilcox vice president of marketing. "The design philosophy behind this compact Kahuna switcher is totally different. We've taken all the quality and functionality of the world's best production switcher and simply scaled it to a smaller package."

The new switchers incorporate networking functionality to enable users to assign M/Es and DVE capability to individual control panels. The switchers can also be easily upgraded as facility growth takes place.
