SkyLife to use TANDBERG Television encoders

TANDBERG Television, part of the Ericsson Group, today announced that it is providing a satellite head-end system upgrade to Korea Digital Satellite Broadcasting, commonly known by the SkyLife brand name, has selected TANDBERG Television to upgrade a satellite headend system.
TANDBERG Television will provide SkyLife with its statistically multiplexed encoders. The TANDBERG E5770 encoder provides standard-definition MPEG-2 real-time encoding. TANDBERG Television also will provide its EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC high-definition encoder, which substantially reduces the bandwidth required to broadcast HDTV.
SkyLife has 1.9 million subscribers and offers 95 video, 25 pay-per-view and 60 audio channels.
