SGL, Konan Technology form technology partnership

Software Generation, which specializes in video storage management software, and Konan Technology, a developer of digital asset management systems, have formed a technology partnership integrating their respective products.

By integrating SGL FlashNet with Konan Digital Arc, a digital asset management solution designed to provide a completely digital workflow from ingest to archiving, video content can be archived to a variety of library devices from small DVD-RAM to large-scale tape. SGL supports storage devices and libraries from all major manufacturers.

For on-air production needs, a content clip can be partially or fully restored. SGL FlashNet’s partial restore function also will benefit the KonanProxyEditor giving the user the ability to restore part of a clip and thereby allowing for quick and efficient use of video content.

SGL’s FlashNet software is a data management solution that provides a link between video stored as files on video servers, NLEs and shared storage systems and the data library that serves as the long-term repository. It lets users move material from the server to the archive either manually or under the control of a video application, tracking all video assets by user or application assigned file names.
