SeaChange unveils flash memory-based broadcast video server

SeaChange International this week introduced the Broadcast Flash Memory Library FML200, a flash memory-based ingest and play-to-air solution.

With no moving parts, the server offers the reliability of flash memory and consumes 10 times less power than spinning disk-based counterparts.

The FML200 can be used to supplement or even eliminate spinning disks in the on-air chain. It is immediately available for TV operators worldwide. The company will demonstrate the flash memory-based server at NAB2008 next month.

Combining flash memory with SeaChange’s MediaCluster server architecture, the FML200 offers IP-centric connectivity that integrates with file-based workflows.
