Sachtler will unveil Soom, a multifunction camera support system for Mini DV to HDV camcorders at NAB. In tripod mode, Soom’s 75mm bowl features single-stage legs, providing a vertical height range from 27 inches to 56 inches.
To gain height, TriPod becomes HiPod via its integrated center column, known as the “Soom Tube,” that telescopes up to 8 feet. The Soom Tube can be removed from the tripod to become a monopod with a height range of 34 inches to 62 inches.
An integrated TriSpread mid-level spreader offers stability on uneven ground. The spreader removes to becomes a baby tripod with heights from 8 inches to 19 inches
Sachtler also will unveil its carbon fiber spring arm, the artemis ACT 2 C Upgrade and the artemis ACT 2 Vest for camera stabilizing systems, including the artemis EFP, EFP Pro SDI HD, Cine and Cine HD. The torsion-free ACT 2 C Upgrade handles payloads from 24 to 57 pounds. The ACT 2 Vest features six moveable and washable pads with a wicking core covered by nylon Cordura.
Other products being shown include the Reporter 8LED light fixture that use 8 W to produce a light output of 34 Fc at 3 feet (310 lux at 1 meter). The new Combi 1-40 Pedestal is a full-featured, steerable, lightweight and portable camera pedestal supporting heights from 21 inches to 52 inches.
