New Modulus AVC Encoder Targets IPTV

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Modulus Video, a provider of MPEG-4 AVC video compression systems, has introduced the ME1001 encoder for IPTV.

The ME1001 SD encoder provides full resolution MPEG-4 AVC video encoding with support for Main Profile video encoding at Level 3. It delivers CF CBR that maximizes bandwidth and introduces new features to enhance IPTV services including the first embedded low-resolution proxy system for enabling picture-in-picture for Microsoft TV and electronic program guide applications.

"IPTV is an exciting new breed of television service, being delivered by a new class of service provider -- similarly it needs a new caliber of video encoding solution to meet its unique requirements," said Bob Wilson, chairman and CEO of Modulus Video. "The ME1001 directly addresses the economics of IPTV. We have reduced space requirements to allow extremely high-density deployment thereby meeting high volume demands of rapidly expanding channel lineups and customer bases."

Modulus Video's ME1001 complements the full featured ME1000 SD AVC encoder, ME6000 high-definition AVC encoder and comprehensive Compression System Management system. The ME1001 is also available for IPTV solutions from Motorola, a Modulus OEM partner.
