Microsoft Introduces New MSN TV 2 Internet and Media Player

By mid-October, consumers can get their hands on the new MSN TV 2 Internet and Media Player, based on Windows CE operating system. The new device is the next generation successor to Microsoft's WebTV product.

Users can listen to Windows Media-compatible music, view digital photos, watch videos, surf the Internet and e-mail from their TV sets. Thomson makes the networked, broadband-enabled device and its sold under the RCA brand. The player includes a wireless keyboard and a remote control.

Other services offered include 200 radio stations, MSN e-mail account with 2 GB of storage, 10 secondary e-mail accounts with 250 MB of storage as well as spam protection.

Features include MSN video and radio, MSN Messenger for TV, MSN Chat for TV and MSN parental controls with content filters.

MSN TV 2 is powered by the Intel 733 MHz Celeron chip set and includes 128 MB or RAM and 64 MB of flash memory. The player is has an Ethernet port and two USB ports.

The player comes preloaded with Windows Media Player for TV, Internet Explorer 6 and Windows Media Connect for home networking.
