Digital broadcast and cable technologies provider KTech Telecom has introduced a static PSIP generator, the SPG-100. The 1 RU 19-inch generator has DVB-ASI and SMPTE-310M inputs, and DVB-ASI and SMPTE-310M outputs.
The unit generates FCC-required PSIP information such as System Time Table, Rating Region Table, Terrestrial Virtual Channel Table or Cable Virtual Channel Table, Master Guide Table and the first four elements of Event Information Table. The unit complies with the PSIP formatting standards set by ATSC.
The PSIP is an important part of DTV transmission because it provides other broadcasters and viewers with program information. KTech's SPG-100 generates, edits and manages PSIP information; it is expected to be available in mid-March.
