Ikegami and Avid Announce Editing Collaboration

Ikegami’s GFCam HDS-V10 Flash memory camcorder’s HD content and metadata are now directly accessible to users of many Avid editing products.

Avid announced that as a feature of its Avid Media Access (AMA) plug-in architecture that new versions of the company’s NewsCutter, Media Composer and Symphony systems could work directly with the Ikegami files.

“Ikegami and Avid share a long history of cooperation in pioneering tapeless video acquisition,” said Fumio Yamaguchi, president and CEO at Ikegami Electronics U.S.A. “Avid’s support for GFCam, as a result of its new AMA plug-in architecture, is the latest chapter in its long relationship with Ikegami. Together the two companies are providing television news professionals and the broadcast and production industries with leading-edge tapeless, nonlinear workflow advantages that deliver superior HD quality and speed-to-air with the powerful features and user benefits of many of Avid’s world-renown broadcast and post production solutions.”

The compatibility extends to both Ikegami’s 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps GFCam formats and makes editing the Ikegami’s Flash RAM GFPak to an Avid editing system via the storage system’s USB 2.0 port or high-speed SATA interface.

All metadata associated with the Ikegami GFCam video files are also supported and displayed via Avid’s AMA plug-in architecture.
