IBC2007 on Leading Edge With IPTV Zone

Innovations in Internet Protocol Television and broadband video have earned a new showcase at IBC2007.

As improved digital video compression and expanding bandwidth revolutionize broadcast content deliver, according to Gartner Inc. of Stamford, Conn., IPTV services may reach 3.3 million homes in Western Europe this year, rise to 16.7 million by 2010 to creating a $6 billion marketplace. The U.S. IPTV market has barely begun in comparison.

The technologies and content driving this revolution are the focus for the new IPTV Zone at IBC2007. Bringing together many of the organizations and technologies emerging in these markets, the IPTV Zone will provide an opportunity for application developers, content providers and technology companies to showcase their capabilities.

The IPTV Zone features free IBC2007 IPTV Zone Business Briefings that will examine the issues and opportunities arising from this revolution in broadcast content delivery. These free briefings are intended to reinforce and complement the established peer reviewed IBC Conference.

The IPTV Zone is being jointly developed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IPTV Zone design and format will replicate that of the Mobile Zone, which was introduced at IBC in 2005 and has since enjoyed a five-fold increase in size.
