IBC2006 to offer expanded exhibition
Broadcasters, post-production professionals, IPTV operators and mobile television network mavens from across the globe will descend on Amsterdam Sept. 7-12 for the 2006 edition of the IBC conference and exhibition.
Filling 12 exhibition halls at the RAI Centre in Amsterdam, the amount of floor space dedicated to the latest technologies for the broadcast and aligned industries has grown about 10 percent (1650sq ft) since last year.
This year’s IBC will focus on five themes, including: Multimedia in the Networked Home; HDTV Lift-Off; Media on the Move; Content Production, IPTV and D-Cinema. Sessions will run concurrently during the conference. As in the past, they will be designed for management, creative and technical personnel who run today’s facilities. However, this year the conference also will include sessions intended to help attendees design strategies from which to profit in the future as well as identify ways to use technology to build their businesses.
Other highlights planned for IBC2006 include:
- The Multimedia On The Move tutorial, designed to bring attendees up to speed on the technologies and service platforms consumers connect with multimedia services when they’re on the go.
- The New Technology campus, where noncommercial organizations can exhibit their ideas and have a forum to interact with IBC attendees.
- The SCTE autumn Benelux meeting, with a focus on broadband technology and ways to optimize European Cable Networks’ bandwidth capacity.
IBC2006 also will offer opportunities for attendee companions to participate in a social program, which will include visits to the Alkmaar Cheese Market, the Delft Blue Porcelain Factory and the Hermitage Museum for the Silver Wonders of the East exhibition.
Registration for IBC2006 includes access to the IBC Training Zone, added value sessions, Mobile Zone and the IBC Big Screen Experience.
