Harris develops multi-image processor

Harris has introduced Centrio, a multi-image processor designed to streamline complex, large-system broadcast monitoring applications.

The system combines an advanced graphics engine and a routing infrastructure within a single, expandable chassis. The system was designed to reduce the cost and complexity associated with traditional, large-system monitoring implementations.

Centrio is targeted for broadcast, multi-video, audio monitoring, master control rooms and broadcast trucks. It incorporates Harris Inscriber graphics technology that enables customizable image layouts for use as a monitoring and control tool.

Layouts can be customized per output using graphical elements that result in a more effective, intuitive monitoring environment. The graphics engine enables unique multiviewer features such as scrolling picture-in-pictures (PIPs) and integrated test and measurement applications.

The routing section is based on Harris Platinum router architecture. The system is capable of accessing up to 512 inputs (HD, SD, analog or graphic) and driving up to 32 independent DVI displays or 64 independent HD-SDI monitors from a single chassis.

Harris said the robust routing infrastructure provides broadcast-quality, 24/7 operation and reliability, simplifies system design, enables lower costs and streamlines operations for large systems.
