Furman keeps power on with new rack-mount voltage regulator

Furman has introduced the P-1800 AR rack-mount voltage regulator/power conditioner. A successor to Furman's AR-15 II, the P-1800 AR provides stable voltage protection and line noise filtration for any AV installation where reliable, comprehensive protection is needed.

The P-1800 AR provides consistent 120V output (±5V) from input voltages ranging from 97 VAC to 137 VAC. Unlike commercial voltage regulators, the P-1800 AR's true RMS voltage regulation technology, featuring an ultra-low noise, microprocessor-controlled, eight-tap toroidal autoformer, is engineered for use in any AV environment.

The benefit of true RMS is the assurance of quiet operation for critical listening and recording applications, with minimal leakage of stray magnetic fields. Additionally, when the autoformer switches voltage taps at the zero cross points of both voltage and current, it does not inject noise into the audio signal, thus providing stable voltage when subjected to severe voltage fluctuations — even when connected to power generators.

The P-1800 AR offers Furman's advanced Linear Filtering Technology, SMP surge/spike protection and Extreme Voltage Shutdown technologies for professional-level protection from spikes, surges and dangerous prolonged voltage conditions. The 15A unit features eight fully regulated, protected and filtered rear-panel outlets and a front-panel convenience outlet.

The unit's rear-panel outlets are separated into two banks to minimize electrical crosstalk between components. The first bank offers outlets spaced wide enough to accommodate bulky "wall warts" and features Furman's Secure Straps to lock plugs in place. The P-1800 AR's front panel features a switchable digital voltmeter/ammeter with a color-coded voltage range indicator for comprehensive power monitoring as well as a USB outlet that can be used to charge cell phones, portable media devices or to power a USB lamp.
