Euphonix to debut S5 Fusion console at NAB

In an exclusive interview with Audio Technology Update, Euphonix has announced the debut of its new S5 Fusion digital mixing console to be shown at NAB2007. Specifically tailored for HDTV and audio post production, the S5 Fusion is a 32-fader control surface coupled with 40 channels of onboard DSP processing and comprehensive DAW control.

According to Euphonix marketing VP Andrew Wild, the idea behind the console was a "best of both worlds" approach. The company’s goal was to bring the power of a large-format film console to a smaller, more affordable package appropriate to the multichannel mixing needs of HDTV and surround sound. In addition to its expandable onboard DSP, the S5 Fusion also incorporates the EuCon Hybrid protocol, allowing the console surface to control its own DSP channels as well as those from multiple DAWs simultaneously.

"The beauty of DAW control on the S5 Fusion," Wild said, "is that for very little money, you can add hundreds of tracks just by adding external DAWs. It’s a very efficient way of making a big, powerful mixing console."

The Euphonix S5 Fusion will be on display at NAB2007, Booth N4021.
