Clear-Com Concert Software-Based Intercom Now Shipping

Clear-Com’s multi-user intercom system is heading to a desktop near you.

Clear-Com Concert, the first software-based intercom system from Clear-Com Communication Systems, is now available and shipping, the company said.

Based on VoIP technology, the multi-user Clear-Com Concert delivers sound over a standard LAN or the Internet among local and remote users, eliminating the need to pick up a phone or connect to a conference bridge. The user interface has drag-and-drop functionality and simple point-and-click controls. The “presence awareness” feature monitors participants’ availability.

The intercom system was demonstrated at the 2008 NAB Show.

“Clear-Com Concert is one of the most flexible and innovative intercom products on the market,” said Jake Dodson, vice president of product management for Clear-Com. “It makes communications seamless and accessible to all users without the need for a large hardware investment. Conferences can be initiated within minutes and are of such high clarity that it actually sounds as if they’re in the same room with other participants.”

The scalable system uses AES 128-bit encryption to provide “online banking” grade security for protecting privacy of transmissions. It has texting and online chat capabilities that offer easy escalation to a voice session. It supports a variety of codecs including wideband and ultra wideband.

Clear-Com Communications is a brand of The Vitec Group.
