Blackmagic Design Inc. has announced a price reduction in its HDLink converter. The new list price is now $445, down from the original $695.
HDLink is designed to convert either standard or high-definition SDI video to DVI/HDMI format and is the only converter that instantly switches between SD and HD signals. It also includes 4:2:2 and Dual Link 4:4:4 feature film quality features.
"I believe that as products become more successful and their cost to build becomes less, Blackmagic Design has a great opportunity to pass on these benefits as lower prices," said Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO. "We are responding to our customers' needs for the highest quality HD monitoring solutions available, and yet increasing affordability to our customers."
The HDLink converter has a built-in USB interface, and uses software based on both Windows XP and Mac OS X, which allows users to load their own custom lookup tables. The device is provided with lookup tables that are compatible with Panasonic and Grass Valley standard gamma encoded video. With the lookup tables and gamma and video parameter adjustments, precise color calibration can be achieved, allowing use of many popular brands of LCD video displays for monitoring.
HDLink also features unbalanced RCA stereo audio connections that allow audio monitoring via consumer high fidelity audio equipment.
