CanopusEDIUS 2.5 & MediaEdge2
Canopus has announced EDIUS 2.5, the latest version of its nonlinear editing application. Features new to the EDIUS 2.5 include the ability to select and move multiple clips, quickly apply filters and transitions to any number of clips simultaneously, merge EDIUS projects together, and a new cropping, scaling, and repositioning tool for realtime aspect ratio conversions. Canopus has also brought to market MediaEdge2, the latest version of the company’s network-based video distribution system. In addition to MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, it now supports MPEG-4.
Remote Scheduling For TitanTV.com
Decisionmark has introduced a new remote scheduling feature for its TitanTV.com electronic program guide (EPG). It allows users to remotely program the guide by setting up the recording function on any web browser and sending program information to a TitanTV remote scheduling server.
Lastolite (Bogen Imaging)Ezybalance
Lastolite has introduced the Ezybalance, which allows operators to establish the correct exposure and color balance in their DV cameras before shooting. It gives accurate color rendition to DV cameras by providing a pure white surface upon which the DV camera can perform a white balance. The other side of the Ezybalance provides an 18% gray card surface suitable for adjusting the camera to get the most accurate exposure setting.
The Light BrigadeDVD: OTDR Theory
The Light Brigade has created a new menu-based DVD on OTDR theory and operation, the second in a new series of DVDs for staff development. The OTDR DVD explores the background and evolution of the OTDR, OTDR theory, and OTDR variations such as mini-OTDRs and fiber break locators. Also highlighted are the new “platform” OTDRs, specifically for testing legacy and newly-designed and installed cable plants.
Net InsightSwitching Multiplexer For Nimbra
Net Insight has announced the availability of a 2-port OC-48/STM-16 X-ADM switching multiplexer module for its Nimbra transport platform. The new module allows for non-blocking on-board switching capacity and interconnection of up to seven double-rings with one switch. It also enables fully protected 8 x SDI bi-directional transport plus Ethernet for control and E1 for auxiliary audio, with everything dynamically switched.
Prisma II 1310-nm Transmitter
Scientific-Atlanta has introduced the Prisma II 1310-nm transmitter, which provides 14dBm power output to deliver the signal strength needed for links of less than 40Km at a lower cost than 1550nm transmitters. The 1310-nm transmitter can be used to transmit broadcast and narrowcast signals from headends or hubs to nodes, and fits in a single slot in the Prisma II platform’s chassis.
VOD Recording System 2.0
SeaChange International has introduced the high definition-enabled VOD Recording System 2.0, an enhancement to the company’s management software. It enables cable operators to automatically record and store HD television broadcasts, as well as standard definition analog and digital for on-demand viewing.
Softimage SOFTIMAGE|XSI V.4.0
Softimage has introduced the SOFTIMAGE|XSI version 4.0. It offers increased interoperability with Avid’s line of nonlinear editing products and delivers improvements to workflow, including customization, project management, and workgroup capabilities that are tightly integrated with mental ray 3.3. It also offers increased interoperability with Avid asset management solutions.
Studer has introduced a new audio console, the Vista 8 digital live production console. It incorporates the Vistonics user interface and features 12 motorized faders and a Vistonics TFT screen with 40 rotary controls, which provide directly accessible level controls for up to 52 audio paths, including master, group, or matrix outputs. The new “reverse operation” feature enables the operator to rapidly identify all channels contributing to any master bus and adjust levels instantly.
