Avid Ships New Products

Avid Technology (opens in new tab) is shipping several new products, including new versions of Media Composer, Avid Unity, DS Nitris, Avid Xpress Pro and Avid Mojo.

Media Composer (opens in new tab) is now available in a range of configurations, including a software-only application. All products in the Media Composer family now feature version 2.5 cofware, which adds broad HD capabilities and real-time multicam support on Mac OS X (Tiger), as well as support for Sony XDCAM HD. Other new features include motion tracking and stabilization with SteadyGlide, full-screen playback over DVI, and compatibility with Avid Interplay, the company's new workflow application.

Media Composer is available in four versions: a software only version, Media Composer with Avid Mojo, Media Composer Adrenaline and Media Composer Adrenaline with Avid DNxcel.

New versions of Avid Unity (opens in new tab) are also now shipping. Avid Unity LANshare 4.2 doubles the storage capacity of its predecessor, at up to 8 TB, using the new LANserver LP (Low Profile), an integrated storage and server device featuring 16 drifves in 3RU. Avid Unity MediaNetwork 4.2 also doubles the storage capacity up to 40 TB, using the new 3 RU MEDIArray LP array with 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel connectivity for mid- to large-size facilities. Avid Unity ISIS 1.1 offers three times the storage capacity--up to 192 TB--of previous versions, with support for 150 active users, compatibility with Max OS X and Windows XP workstations.

Avid DS Nitris 8.0 (opens in new tab) offers a native 64-bit software architecture and dual-link I/O hardware to support high-resolution and DI workflows. The new version also ships with dual-boot capability, allowing editors to use either the DS or Avid Symphony toolset with the Avid Nitris hardware.

Version 5.5 of Avid Xpress Pro (opens in new tab) delivers HD capabilities for both Mac and Windows-based systems. Avid Mojo SDI (opens in new tab), the newest member of Avid's line of Digital Nonlinear Accelerator (DNA), works seamlessly with Avid Xpress Pro and Media Composer software, providing high-quality, advanced analog and digital SDI I/O connections for professional video and audio projects.
