Omneon and EVS to Preview NBC Universal's Olympics Integrated Storage and Instant Production Workflow at SVG Tech Workshop

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Dec. 14, 2009 -- EVS Broadcast Equipment will be joining Omneon at the SVG League Technology Summit/Mobile Engineering Workshop, Dec. 14-15 in New York, to preview the integrated storage (Omneon) and instant tapeless production (EVS) workflow that will support NBC's coverage of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. The joint demo will highlight how the scalable high-capacity Omneon MediaGrid(TM) active storage system can be integrated with the high-performance EVS XT[2] production server to enable fast, seamless access to high volumes of HD media in live and near-live broadcast production environments.

"The integration between the Omneon MediaGrid system and the EVS XT[2] server allows any HD footage to be immediately available and exchangeable between storage and production environments. The systems' robust combination of storage capacity, media access speed, and advanced live production capabilities gives NBC's Olympics a best-in-class solution for its coverage of the Vancouver Winter Games," said Matt Adams, vice president of broadcast solutions at Omneon.

The EVS XT[2] production server, along with the EVS IPDirector suite, including the IPEdit on-the-fly editing solution, will be used for HD live and near-live ingest, production, and playout. Content recorded on the XT[2] servers in Avid DNxHD(R) codec will be made available on the Omneon MediaGrid system as self contained MXF OP1a files through the XTAccess, the EVSintelligent gigabit Ethernet network gateway. Conversely, EVS operators will be able to capture and manipulate video from the Omneon MediaGrid system to be used for production and playout.
