Inlet Helps France's M6 Web Bring "Nouvelle Star" to Online Viewers

Inlet Technologies, the leader in advanced encoding solutions for new media, today announced that M6 Web – the Internet division of Metropole Television Group, France's second-largest commercial TV broadcaster, is using Inlet’s Armada automated encoding workflow solution to transcode video for the popular “Nouvelle Star” show, the French counterpart of “American Idol.”

“We have a strong viewer contingent hungry for more online content. We required a solution that would allow us to get clips, highlights and additional video online as quickly as possible, all while maintaining superior video quality,” said M6 Web’s Technology Director, Martin Boronski. “Inlet’s Armada has streamlined our workflow by replacing numerous manual steps with automated processes that have significantly accelerated our traditional transcoding workflow. Additionally, Armada gives M6 Web the opportunity to grow our transcoding capacity through the addition of Armada nodes, thus optimizing our cash flow and investment in our on-line video business.”

Armada dramatically enhances the hands-off automation required to support high volume operations. A clean, easy-to-use interface and documented APIs allow organizations to easily tie their controls directly into existing operations. M6 is using this automation to offer more video on their website than in prior years, at a lower cost and without having to add staff.

“Inlet is delighted to work with a quality television company like M6 in France,” said Neal Page, Inlet CEO. “As a forward-thinking broadcaster, they recognize that fans of shows such as Nouvelle Star will look to the Internet for more and more video. We are pleased to help M6 meet this growing demand for a high quality, online video experience.”
