HOLOPHONE® INTRODUCES HOLOPHONE D-CODE

Holophone, a leading manufacturer of surround microphones, is simplifying workflow when editing the Holophone PortaMic 5.1‘s and H4 SuperMINI‘s Pro Logic II encoded audio with the introduction of the Holophone D-CODE multi-channel Pro Logic II® decoder. The Holophone D-CODE will make its industry debut at NAB 2008 (Booth N6438, N6435).

Designed for desktop use, the D-CODE takes the two audio channels, which are encoded using the H4‘s or Porta-Mic 5.1‘s encoder from the camera‘s recording medium or other two channel source, and decodes into six discrete audio channels. The recording device is connected to the D-CODE through two RCA inputs on the front of the device for an easy transfer from the camera to the computer. Decoded audio is delivered via 6 RCA analog outputs or Multi-Channel USB directly to the user‘s computer. The six discrete audio files can then be edited in any professional editing program such as Apple‘s Final Cut Pro, Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. In addition to its ease of use, the Holophone D-CODE retails for $599, making it an easy addition to any production budget.

“The H4 SuperMINI was the first step in bringing surround to existing production technologies,” says Jonathan Godfrey, CEO of Holophone. “The Holophone D-CODE looks to expand on this reputation. The D-CODE, combined with the H4 SuperMINI and PortaMic 5.1 or used in conjunction with the new Holophone N-CODE and our larger surround microphones, helps to make the transition to surround easy for the crew in the field as well as in post.”

Users of the company‘s H2-PRO and H3-D now have access to the encoding technology of the H4 SuperMINI and PortMic 5.1 with the N-CODE. Holophone N-CODE takes six channels from the H2-PRO or H3-D and converts them to two channels, allowing audio to be recorded to any standard stereo recording device. When combined with the D-CODE, these stereo recordings are effortlessly brought back to their full 5.1 channel splendor.
