SeaChange Powers On-Demand Services for FiOS TV

Verizon has deployed IPTV technology from SeaChange to automate on-demand services for Verizon's FiOS telco TV service.

The SeaChange IP video system automates the FiOS TV on-demand service from content intake down to set-top applications. In Verizon deployments, the SeaChange system works with Motorola set-tops in a combined broadcast and IP system.

"The combination of IP and conventional broadcast technology gives customers the services they want today and positions us to deliver more IP-based services in the future," said Paul Lacouture, president, Network Services Group for Verizon.

FiOS TV features more than 300 channels and thousands of hours of on-demand movies and other programing, and is available to customers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Herndon, Va. and Temple Terrace, Fla. and will launch soon in other states where Verizon is building fiber-to-the-premises, according to Verizon. In addition to video services, the all-fiber network also supports high-speed Internet, and high-quality voice services.
