never.no — Per-Henning Almvang, Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Per-Henning AlmvangQ. What kind of products or services does your company offer for broadcasters?
never.no offers flexible, configurable software applications, allowing broadcasters to design interactive services connecting consumers with broadcasters and brands thru the use of cell phones and the internet.

We also offer customization consultation in integrating interactive solutions with TV formats and creative, broadcast equipment and facilities, as well as third party information such as telco platforms, CRM and billing solutions, and social networks like YouTube and Twitter.

Q. What's new that you will exhibit at the NAB Show and what should broadcasters look for there?
We will also show a brand new turnkey solution: Community TV. Community TV is a platform for creating TV programs or channels based on broadcast quality user generated content from social network users, citizen journalists and/or dedicated remote journalists. The entire channel, including ingest, material planning and scheduling, moderation and editorial processing, as well as playout on Live TV and publishing to on-line can be controlled from a Web browser.

In addition, we will show our pre-existing product line as shown last year, but with several new upgrades in relation to social network integration — and integration with digital signage.

Q. How is your new product offering different from what's available on the market?
You can operate an entire TV channel from a netbook — that's pretty impressive, in addition to being very cost effective. The TV channel itself can be run as Software-as-a-Service, only requiring a small hardware investment on the playout side. Start a high-quality channel with minimal investment in infrastructure and equipment.

Q. How has your company been affected by the current economic situation and what are you doing to get through it?
Our company has seen a drop in sales with our previous "typical" customer, while at the same time we have seen greater interest from bigger broadcasters and media publishers. To combat the slowdown we've increased our sales force from two people and 1.5 man/years a year ago to 6 positions with 4.5 man/years now.

Q. Where are you based, and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?
We are a software development company established in 1999, and operating out of Oslo, Norway. We have 20 employees, 19 located in Norway and 1 in New York.
