Whittingham Steps Down from Sony Broadcast Helm

After 28 years with the company, Pat Whittingham, president of the Sony Broadcast and Production Systems Division, will retire effective Jan. 5, 2004.

John Scarcella, president of the Business Solutions Division, will take on the leadership role of the broadcast group, as well as maintaining his current position.

A Sony spokesman said Whittingham elected to take the company's early retirement package, offered to employees over 50 who have more at least five years of service.

Whittingham took the top job at the broadcast group in June, 2002, after rising through the ranks of the parent corporation. He joined the company in March, 1975, as a government sales manager in Ottawa, Canada. Before heading up the broadcast group, Whittingham was president of Sony Business Solutions and Systems. He succeeded Ed Grebow as president of the broadcast group.
