Washington, D.C. SMPTE/AES Ground Loop Seminar

Bill Whitlock, president of Jensen Transformers will present a three-hour seminar on "Understanding, Finding and Eliminating Ground Loops" on Saturday, June 3 at a joint SMPTE/AES meeting. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is being hosted by National Public Radio.

Whitlock's presentation will cover how hum, noise and other interference finds its way into signals paths; how to troubleshoot the problem; solutions available without compromising safety; and why some "cures" don't live up to claims.

Whitlock is the author of a number of papers on audio topics and has made several presentations on grounding issues.

The seminar is being presented without charge at NPR headquarters, located at 635 Massachusetts Ave., NW in downtown Washington. Interested parties are requested to RSVP the D.C. chapter of AES at dc_section@aes.org, if they plan to attend. Additional information is available at the chapter's Web site.
