Turner Broadcasting System selects Scientific-Atlanta's Prisma IP technology

Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) has selected Scientific-Atlanta's Prisma IP platform to transport its raw, studio-quality video from multiple sites in the metropolitan area to the network's central editing facilities in Atlanta, Ga. This point-to-point implementation of the Prisma IP system will allow TBS networks to collect video from satellite, fiber and other sources at multiple locations and use a single platform to deliver the signals to a central editing location with no loss of resolution or overall quality.

TBS's Prisma IP network will be the first commercial deployment of Scientific-Atlanta's new SDI (Synchronous Digital Interface) line card, operating at 270 MB/sec per port and includes 8 ports per line card. In addition to SDI, Prisma IP supports a host of video, data and TDM voice line interfaces: ASI (asynchronous serial interface), IF (intermediate frequency), 10/100 Base-T, Gigabit Ethernet, OC-3, DS-3 and T-1. An integrated DWDM subsystem capable of carrying optical private line in OC-12 and OC-48 formats enables network operators to integrate multiple services over a single transport network. Provisioning and management of these services is made through a point and click network management system.
