Texas Instruments has shipped its five millionth DLP product unit.
The first million were shipped between 1996 and 2001 and TI shipped its 3 millionth unit in March. Eight months later, the company reached the five million mark.
DLP technology is used in digital cinema screens, large-screen, digital TVs and also consumer-based and professional projectors. More than 75 DLP TVs are available at in more than 11,000 retail outlets. Increased used of the technology has resulted in a 40 percent market share across the globe.
