Soundcraft passes audition for New Zealand 'Idol'

The New Zealand version of Fox’s popular “American Idol” show has become the testing ground for a new Soundcraft Vi6 digital audio console.

Tom Cat & Associates, the Auckland-based sound company that provides production and broadcast audio for “NZ Idol,” recently ordered the second Vi6 console sold in New Zealand. Audio mixer Andy Tait chose the console after a 12-week trial. Tait said he had about an hour to learn the console before using it to mix the live-to-air music TV show.

Soundcraft will release an effects/EQ package for the Vi6 in early 2007. In the United States, Soundcraft and Studer's products are distributed by Harman Pro North America, a subsidiary of Harman International Industries.
