Sound Devices ships remote fader for digital recorder

Sound Devices is now shipping its new CL-2 Remote Fader for the 788T digital audio recorder.

The CL-2 can be mounted directly to a microphone boom pole, used in the hand, or on a flat surface. Connecting to the 788T’s proprietary C.Link port (Control Link), the CL-2 offers a single, 30mm fader, which can be programmed to control any input on the 788T.

There are also a pair of dual-position switches on the remote control unit that can be programmed to operate several critical functions on the 788T, including remote record activation. The CL-2 is powered by the C.Link port.

The CL-2 addresses the needs of sound mixers working with boom microphones, or any mixer wanting easy, precise access to an input gain. While many jobs require multitrack, often it is that main boom that requires the most precision.

Sound Devices’ 788T digital audio recorder is designed for multitrack, on-location productions and features a significant expansion of input and output capability — eight full-featured microphone inputs and 12 tracks of recording. In a stainless steel and aluminum chassis weighing less than 4lbs and roughly the size of a hard-covered novel, the 788T accommodates individual controls and connectors for each of its eight inputs, plus numerous additional I/O and data connections.
