Scopus demos digital simulcast and IP networking at Cable-Tec Expo

Scopus Video Networks, a provider of digital video networking products, is demonstrating digital simulcast architectures at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo beginning June 20 in Denver.

Designed to fit digital simulcast architectures, the Scopus solutions include digital splicing technology for ad insertion, dense IP edge decoding for simultaneous analog and digital program delivery, and MPEG-2 encoding.

Showcased will be digital ad insertion using Scopus' IVG-7500 Intelligent Video Splicer for seamless ad insertion implemented with ad-server, and standards-based digital program insertion in accordance with SCTE 30 and SCTE 35. Also on display will be IP dense edge decoding with Scopus' UID-2912 dense decoder. The 1 RU UID-2912 provides 12 channels of MPEG-2 decoding over a dual-Gigabit Ethernet IP input port.

Local encoding will be shown in two modes: constant bit rate MPEG-2 encoding, including cue-tone insertion, compliant with SCTE 35 standards, via the Scopus E-90 encoder; and closed-loop MPEG-2 statistical multiplexing with Scopus' E-1200 TriplePass encoder.

IP video networking will be shown, in which local encoding and digital content is distributed over an IP backbone for remote reception, processing and redistribution over the network.
