RTNDA to honor Tim Russert posthumously with Paul White Award

The Radio-Television News Directors Association will posthumously honor Tim Russert, NBC’s former senior VP, Washington bureau chief and moderator of “Meet the Press,” with the Paul White Award next month.

Russert’s wife, Maureen Orth, and son, Luke, will accept the honor on his behalf at the RTNDA Awards Dinner in New York on Oct. 13.

Russert joined NBC News in 1984 and became senior VP and Washington bureau chief in 1988. He began moderating “Meet the Press” in 1991 and served as moderator longer than any other broadcast journalist. He received an Emmy Award for his coverage of former President Ronald Reagan’s funeral in 2005 and shared NBC’s 2001 Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence and numerous other journalism awards.

Established in 1956, the Paul White Award recognizes an individual’s lifetime contribution to electronic journalism.
