Panasonic cameras installed at Bethel Woods Center for Arts

Panasonic’s AK-HC1500G HD point-of-view cameras have been installed at the new Bethel Woods Center for the Arts at the site of the original 1969 Woodstock festival.

Patrons who occupy one of the center’s 12,000 lawn seats see HD image magnification of artists performing on the stage through use of a three-camera setup with full remote pan/tilt control. These HD images from the cameras are projected onto two 20ft-wide, 16:9 screens.

The AK-HC1500G camera features variable frame rate functionality and cine gamma curve. The camera has three one-megapixel, 2/3in CCDs with improved on-chip lenses to achieve a standard sensitivity of F10.0 at 2000 lux and a smear level of less than -130dB.

The AK-HC1500 uses CCD accumulation and horizontal/vertical addition to create a gain increase of up to 68dB (with a minimum illumination of 0.015dB). The camera offers both 1080 (60i/59.94i, 50i, 30p, 25p/24p) and 720 (60p, 59.94p/50p) HD output.

Waterbury, CT-based systems integrator North American Theatrix, working with architectural firm Westlake Reed Leskosky of Cleveland, OH, developed the video system for Bethel Woods, which opened in 2006.
