NewBay Media Announces the Return of GV Expo

NewBay Media LLC today announced that its 11th annual Government Video Technology Expo returns to Washington, DC next month. The event will run at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from December 2 – 4, 2008, and is expected to attract thousands of video professionals from a variety of sectors, including law enforcement, military, homeland security, education, religious and non-profits, federal, state and local governments, as well as broadcast and independent production.

With three days of comprehensive conference programs running alongside a packed exhibit hall, this year’s Government Video Technology Expo promises to provide attendees with unmatched opportunities to improve their craft through classroom-style education, hands-on experience with the latest gear, and valuable networking events.

“We’re excited about this year’s show, as it’s shaping up to be our most important to date,” said Carmel King, executive vice president of NewBay Media’s Video Broadcast Division. “With an excellent group of exhibitors, plus numerous networking and training opportunities, GV Expo is once again providing the kind of value that keeps attendees and exhibitors supporting the event year after year.”

More than 150 exhibitors will fill the GV Expo exhibit hall this year, including industry powerhouses like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Canon, Apple and Avid. Attendees will have the opportunity to get their hands on the latest camcorders, accessories, post production tools, and more. In addition, the new Government Video Passport Raffle gives attendees a chance to win valuable prizes while exploring the show floor.

Beyond the exhibits, GV Expo will feature two conference programs offering in-depth education and training on the latest tools, technologies and strategies, including: DigitalMediaDC Conference, featuring certification workshops in Apple Final Cut Pro and Apple Color; Avid Editing Workshop; High Definition Technology Crash Course; Motion Graphics and Visual FX; Podcasting, Flash Video and New Media; and Adobe Production Premium Workflow; and Government Video Conference – featuring a variety of sessions including Lighting Problems and Solutions; Working in DC: Tips from the Trenches; AVCCAM Training from Panasonic; Streaming Media Technical Issues; Challenges in AV Installations; Choosing the Correct HD Camera Package; HD Finishing and Workflow Output, and more.

Keeping up with video technology is more important than ever for GV Expo attendees, as noted by Dave Walton, assistant vice president of marketing and communications for JVC Professional Products Company, who said government agencies, like consumers, are making the switch to HD.

“For government, however, the challenge will be changing over not only TVs and viewing monitors, but also the equipment needed to produce and store digital HD content,” he offered. “GV Expo is a perfect venue where government customers can learn from our team of experts and examine JVC's lineup of professional HD products."

In addition, GV Expo is offering a number of programs free to all attendees, including: Information Showcase - a series of FREE educational seminars presented on the showfloor by companies such as Panasonic, MediaBeacon, Apple, Artesia and Taser International; GV Film Festival - screening award-winning projects from the 48 Hour Film Project, DC Shorts Festival, and members of WIFV and TIVA-DC; as well as keynotes and networking opportunities.
