NAB Show: HP Taps Broadcast Pix Switcher for Sundance

Broadcast Pix (Booth SU10605), which says it has redefined the production switcher as a “live integrated production system,” is using the NAB Show to demo its Slate 1000 HD switcher—the same model purchased and used by Hewlett-Packard for its services at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The switcher was used to produce interviews and commentary (in 1080i) for broadcast on television and the Internet, as well as local uses at the festival held in Park City, Utah.

HP built a flight pack around the Slate 1000HD, which it said served as the heart of its broadcast studios in Park City, where HP is a Sundance sponsor. Once set up, HP then offered free access to its broadcast equipment for independent filmmakers to perform interviews and create promotional material on-site. (The studio had been built in California, de-constructed and shipped to Park City, and re-built for use in the Kimball Arts Center during the 10-day festival.)
