NAB Brings Former Democratic Legislator Into Fold

Former Texas Congressman Max Sandlin is the latest new addition to the NAB government relations team. Sandlin will provide strategic counsel and advice and will also advocate on behalf of broadcasters before Congress.

Sandlin held a leadership post as Minority Chief Deputy Whip and served on the Ways and Means Committee during his tenure in the House, which ran from 1997 to 2005. He also served on the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, a group that decides Democratic committee assignments and sets the agenda for the Democratic Caucus.

Sandlin joins a recently new government relations team at NAB that includes Douglas Wiley, its executive vice president; Mildred Webber from the staff of House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.); Jamie Gillespie, a Democratic staff member from the Senate Commerce Committee; and Kelly Cole, counsel to House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Joe Barton (R-Texas).
