Kerry wants broadcast spectrum for broadband

Insisting that Congress “get it right” this time, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) said new telecom legislation now before Congress must guarantee to all Americans affordable access to voice, video and Internet services.

Kerry cited wireless broadband as an important new technology that will enhance competition and bring prices down in the video marketplace.

Kerry, a member of the Commerce committee that’s considering new telecom legislation, also suggested that access to wireless technology be available to a new generation of players. The senator also supports the idea of Bell companies offering video services directly to homes.
