John Eargle Memorial Tribute and Scholarship Fund Announced

Plans have now been made to honor the life and accomplishments of the late John M. Eargle with a scholarship fund in his memory. The audio industry pioneer was found dead in his Los Angeles area home May 9.

A memorial tribute will take place on June 14 at the Linwood Dunn Theatre of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study in Hollywood. A number Eargle's friends and colleagues in the audio industry will speak on the impact that his life had on them and on the audio industry. The event will begin at 8 p.m., with a prereception at 6: 30 p.m.

Under the auspices of the Audio Engineering Society, a scholarship fund has been established in Eargle's name. The John M. Eargle Memorial Scholarship will go to a deserving student with attributes in engineering and music, Eargle's fields of interest.

An initial donation to the fund has been made by the JBL/Hartman International Industries Inc. Contributions can be made to the fund by mail to the AES Educational Foundation.
