IBC releases attendance, demographic data

Demographic and attendance figures released for IBC2006 show total attendance reached 44,808 — up by more than 2000 people from the previous year.

Of those attending, 31,155 were visitors and 13,653 were exhibitors, or 69.5 percent and 30.5 percent, respectively, of the total. By region, Western Europe and Scandinavia continued to dominate attendance with 74 percent of total attendance. Central and Eastern Europe accounted for a combined 8.5 percent of attendees, and those attending the show from North America totaled 7.3 percent. Attendees from Asia accounted for 6.7 percent of the total with the Middle East, Africa and South America responsible for a combined 3.5 percent.

In terms of the industry segments represented at the show, the figures show that 19.37 percent came from a broadcast station or network, 10.07 percent were dealers or distributors, 6.53 percent work in post production, 6.54 percent in production and 19.7 percent in manufacturing. Other notable industry segments include broadband services with 6.47 percent and cable/satellite distribution at 4.59 percent.
