IBC 2005: da Vinci to Feature Post Production

Da Vinci Systems, a major provider of color enhancement and image restoration products used in post-production facilities, will demonstrate its newest wares at IBC 2005 in Vienna.

Incorporating the company's technology (an Emmy winner), da Vinci's products support HD, SD, data and digital film. The Coral Springs, Fla.,-based company will demo its Resolve digital mastering suite of tools for color enhancement, geared specifically for the "digital intermediate" environment. Resolve's open architecture allows the browsing and selection of image data from a LAN/SAN or local storage. After importing Edit Decision Lists, the system adds in-context color enhancement and produces a conformed master.

Acceleration with the da Vinci PowerPlant bit-processing programmable hardware allows real-time, multi-layered color correction on full-film resolution images, not just proxies. Resolve's total non-linear approach allows flexibility and speed, while maintaining the familiarity of da Vinci's traditional control panels, according to the company. Images of mixed resolution up to 4K and beyond are handled with internal processing of 64 bits for YRGB and controlled from a node-type display.
